Enroute to Brac

June 01 2016 | 1 comments

Brac is with its ca. 40 km length and 12 km width the largest island in Dalmatia. It has a seize of 395 square kilometres and lies in the south-west of split only separated by the Bracki Kanal (Channel of Brac) from the mainland. Cruising to the island from Marina Kremik takes about 4 hours and is certainly worth the trip.
The island was created 100 million years ago, during the Cretaceous period and its biggest elevation, the Vidova Gora, is also the highest point in the Adriatic Sea.
Today the locals live from tourism, but there is still agriculture, mainly wine and olives, and commercial fishing.  Another source of income is the sale of high quality lime stone.
